Kev,
I think it may take more to convince George that you may not have had some media clues on that one.

George,
1 Can we predict that the effect of the electricity in the form of a mild tingling on the dowsers skin is likely caused by variations in the telluric currents?
2 I do not use rods, no comment.
3 Ouija board, never tried, no comment.
4 Hidden objects, it appears some make the claim.

Roger , 1) as telluric currents are recordable we might be able to compare data from dowsers to see if there is a correlation .
2) the recorded data from dowsers need not be derived solely from rods .
4) different dowsers make different claims , there does seem to be a general we find x when we concentrate on x .

George,
1 Seems fair comment.
2 Seems fair comment.
4 In this instance is it fair for example to a water dowser to send them off looking for tits on a Bullfrog only to scream "fail" if they do?

Roger , 4)
Getting a reaction is only that , it’s not finding anything . If the reaction is due to physical forces that are recordable then we should be able to correlate the findings . If not then we have to admit we don’t know what the cause of the reaction may be and accept that it may not be environmental , as in the case of the ouija board .The type of explanations given by dowsers are fanciful with no supporting evidence and the suggestions that they are capable of finding tits or bullfrogs , separately or various elements never proven either .

Roger , we can predict the effect of electricity on humans from mild tingling to frying .
What is going on when an individual dowses ? They can report , or we can see , or experience it ourselves if we are the dowser , the movement of rods in a particular manner at a particular spot , this may be repeated or fail to be repeated by the same individual or others at the same or another time . Why do some create fantastical explanations for these effects when there is no evidence to support them and there are much simpler explanations . Is it really that much different from believing that spirits are the cause of the movement on a ouija board . Do dowsers claim to be capable of finding that which is hidden ? , if so then to prove their case all they have to do is to do that under controlled conditions .This ,they have continually failed to do .

Roger , dowsers may not be looking for the same thing . I am concerned with their claims and what they can actually find .Of course rods , hands , pendulums etc don't matter , it's results . Yes , by all means let's test when there are variables , however I didn't feel that would have been fair on the dowsers , but it wouldn't rule out wondering at the cause suggested by the dowser .

George,
My brief guess to the time variables would be the annual being Solar, others Lunar synodic, Venus synodic etc.
Rog
[/quote]
Roger , if the cause was due to these factors , it would be predictable , nobody afaik has produced data to suggest a correlation . The explanation(s) needn't be environmental
George

George,
I never suggested it was not predictable, simply that you were dismissing the repeatability without being aware of the time factor of the cycle. See telluric currents, Solar wind, Magnetosphere etc.
As to data when did that ever get in the way of dissing a theorey?
Croppy posted months ago the frequencey to tune the car radio for the signature, did you try it?
