I showed this to a friend today who is very much into graphic-art. Can't repeat his words but brilliant, wow and amazing (plus fourXs) were his main replies.
As this "animation" is repeated time-and-again there must be something to it!

Very interesting interpretation about how cave art could have been deliberately designed to move animatedly in flickering torchlight, the idea is shown in the short videos on this link.
