Thank you George
I will check it out on my next walk,if though the site I have photographed is not Carn Ferched, then we need to find out what it is.Someone already knows it is there as they have placed that marker on the side of the pathway...
Will post images here of what I find
Regards
Hugh

Thank you George
I am going to have a look for that site on my next walk
Back to the site I found, when walking along the path by the forestry there is this set of markers on the right side of the path ,some light colored stones set in a tiny circle .. So someone had marked it beforehand

I stood in line with it and looked out onto the moor through the zoom on my camera and spotted this stone around fifty yards distant

It was only when I got closer did I see two uprights with this raised mass between...

Looking at the view of the hill in the photo in the link provided by tiompan and comparing it with the view of the same hill in Landsker_man's second photo, I reckon that from the position of Landsker_man when taking the photo, to reach the cairn you would have to move left by more than 100m and closer to the hill and onto slightly on higher ground. Does that seem correct?

I have tried and failed in the past to find this elusive site on the O/S map until yesterday when I was determined to give it another try. Then found this little setting where by my estimations is where Carn Ferched should be roughly, very low almost hidden in the gorse. Two low stones in a disturbed slightly raised mass .
Would anyone here know if indeed it is Carn Ferched?
