T.C. Lethbridge's (very out of print) book "The Painted Men" offers some interesting thoughts and insight into the Picts.

There were three Pictish tribes around Perth. The Venicones to the south; the Caledonii to the north and the Vacomagi over towards Montrose. The Taexali were around Aberdeen. The high Grampians do not appear to have been settled tribal lands at this time.
These names were the ones used by the Romans and may, or may not, have been the Latin form of tribal names that the Picts used themselves, but we have no way of knowing. The Picts left no written record, but did leave wonderful carved stone slabs. We have photographs of many of these and are keen to see more on the Portal - so please send us any photographs that you can get.
You will probably find out more if you contact the Perth Museum.

Hi Im Ray, and this is my first atempted at this so hope i get it right.
Im interested if anyone knows the pictish tribes around Perth, and what gods they may have followed before Alba, any information would be helpful.Ta Ray
