And Tony Partington's excellent video...

"Lapse of Memory" aims to give a new visual perspective on some of the prehistoric sites of Northern Britain. The film combines the photographic techniques of high dynamic range imaging and time-lapse in a panoramic format, and is made up of over 70,000 individual photographs.

Absolutely stunning, mesmerising in fact.
The time lapse photography with a moving camera gives incredible results. These films certainly gave me a sense of what ancient people, especially the priests whose role was to observe the heavens, must have observed.
Forgive my gushing , but these films took me back many years to the Lyban desert, when lying in my sleeping bag one night I looked up at the sky, and for the first time noticed in the absolute darkness that one could see the stars perceptibly moving across the sky. The feeling of clinging to a huge ball hurtling through space has never left me.
I noted that all of the Portuguese uprights shown in the film has smooth rounded tops, a regional phenomenon perhaps?
