Went into Heritage Gateway search Shirewater, got hits for NMR excavation index, which in turn has pointer to ADS but this data is simply replicated, and none as good as that on PastScape. It looks as if it is possible to spend an awful lot of time on these resources unless there is a really steep learning curve. This brings back bibli0graphy I fear.

interesting, PastScape comes up as a non statutory resource, so it is one of the linked data federated search participants. I had done a check on Shinewater earlier and think that the bibliography matter at the HER level is as sorted as it is likely to become, and that finding stuff not in PastScape, email them, but I also found that they don't update their files frequently.

I wonder what the connection is between this and PastScape?

The Heritage Gateway now allows you to cross-search 49 resources, including:
-Over 50% of local English Historic Environment Records (HERs)
-The National Heritage List for England (including listed buildings)
-6 other national resources
Now, over 60,000 records from the National Trust's Historic Buildings, Sites and Monuments Record (NT HBSMR) are now available to search on the Heritage Gateway. Use the search box at
http://www.heritagegateway.org.uk/gateway/
with thanks to Ron for the link
