For the above, at about 18mins explains the trackways but lots of other interesting stuff on dying, quarrying and shipping throughout.

I'm glad this thread has cropped up again, as since it was last brought into focus I have seen Aubrey Manning's "Landscape Mysteries." If you check this episode on Yorkshire tracks, not only does it explain why the tracks were made but also demonstrates how effective they were for horse-drawn transport.

That's fine, if it doesn't float your boat then please just either move on without comment, or if you are interested enough in the subject to want a discussion then post a reasoned argument to refute whatever it is you disagree with.
But please don't leave a sarcastic comment, it's unnecessary and sets off a chain of events usually following this pattern... it provokes more reactions, then the thread's derailed and I have to wade in, remove posts, appropriately pm, soothe ruffled feathers, wave the whip around and eventually restore peace.
Being intrinsically lazy, I much prefer a quiet life and would very much appreciate your assistance in keeping it that way

Cup marks bug me. I can never see them. I must have wasted hours of my life staring at rocks from various angles and seeing nothing but rock.
Don't get me wrong. I love rocks, hence my name. However, I feel that searching for invisible 'cup marks' is just a waste of my precious admiring-the-megaliths-and-venerating-my-ancestors time
