Just a note about looking at things , and only seeing from our present day comprehension.
The nazca lines are a phenonoma that repeat wherever I try, they are interferance patterns in a system that I don't talk of up here.
The shapes are similer to things familier to our sight, but are litterally nothing more than what sensitive peoples will react to.

Yep, well even if you don't agree with him, Von Daniken did and still does point out a lot of new sites -or ones that a lot of people might not have come across- which are pretty interesting usually. Even if you don't agree with him (and i didn't, the first 50 or so times i read his books - and i am still trying to formulate some sort of a theory that totally satisfies me, but am not there yet - there is so much stuff out there to look at first), they're certainly not boring, and i find i keep coming back to them. He's written a new one with a compilation of more interesting sites in it. (on his website)
It probably wasn't until last year, when i was looking at a picture of Newgrange, and then became obsessed with megaliths, that i really started to take him seriously. I think at the very least, our current ideas about how we developed and our history do not explain the sorts of sites we are digging up. They could work as an explanation for a lot of the (seemingly primitive) artifacts, but they don't explain the sites.
[I don't really see why people give him such a hard time - to me, it's obvious that if people created things like the nazca lines which could only be seen from above, that they knew how to fly - somehow or other - or that someone knew how to fly back then. At least I think it's as good an hypothesis as any.]
One i found recently is Qenko in South America. Reminds me a bit of Yonaguni, and another site i saw here - steps, etc, carved into the top of a hill/mountain.
I really don't know what the answer is to all this stuff - but i don't think we have it worked out yet.

Thanks David. I do come to this site because you guys have taken some fantastic photos of these places - so thanks everyone- it's a great site.
I'm not sure if those Thai sites are what the book was on about or not, wouldn't be able to tell without photos. The photo i saw was some stones (but very interesting looking stones) lying in the middle of a forest.
If you do a google search on taiwan megaliths, i come up with a few cryptic references - in touristy type sites- to fields of megaliths... (although now when i look back, they only refer to 2 megaliths at Wuho - i can't find the earlier site i looked at which i thought referred to a lot of megaliths) i will see if i can post one of the sites.

Taiwan
Lin Sheng-yi (林勝義 and Ho Hsien-jung (何顯榮 have written a controversial book, Taiwan - Cradle of Civilization, interpreting the megalithic sites on Taiwan. Lin states about Chihsing Mountain (at Yangmingshan Park and its allegedly man-made pyramid):
"As you can see the rocks have been shaped and put together so as to represent two gigantic beasts meeting head on". [i've got a picture of this - hard to tell what it is, because it's very overgrown area - i think its possible its artificial but someone would need to go there and look/clear it]
We simply do not have enough information, photos or maps available about the megaliths on Taiwan to draw any conclusions about them.

Wuho (Wuhe) Tea Farm, Megaliths, and Tropic of Cancer
The Wuho plateau, located in Ruisui Township, is famous for its tea farms, which mainly grow and process varieties of partially fermented oolong tea. But there are other attractions as well -- the Tropic of Cancer marker, and the Wuho megaliths.
The two two-meter megaliths stand upright beside Highway 9, about two kilometers from the Ruisui Railway Station. Legend has it that they are the transformed bodies of twins who became husband and wife, and hid in this area to escape a sentence of death imposed upon them by their outraged tribe. Archaeologists believe, however, that they are the relics of a prehistoric civilization linked to the Beinan megalithic culture that existed at Beinan in Taitung County. Not far away, on the left side of the road, a white monument in the shape of a sundial marks the location of the Tropic of Cancer.

Re: South-east Asian megaliths, doesn't look like there are any in Taiwan, just a few graves.
The Thai site:
"Yarang Old Town is located at Tambon Wat, Yarang District, about 15 kms. From the provincial town of Pattani on Highway no. 410 and further along Highway no. 4061 for another 2 kms. A major archaeological site of the South, two groups of ancient communities have been discovered there. The Ban Wat ancient town was laid out in an ovate shape with the widest distance at 3 kms. Its age estimated of being during the 11th-16th Centuries Buddhist Era. The Ban Prawae ancient town, on the other hand, is a small square-shaped community, each side measuring 500 m. dating from the 22nd-23rd Centuries B.E."
To convert from B.E to C.E. subtract 543.

Although, I have to admit that I did read Chariots of the Gods as a teenager and it made me aware of the wealth of ancient sites around the world outside of the Stonehenge (12 miles away) environment I grew up in.
But Citadels of Mystery by L. Sprague de Camp influenced me more.

It gets draughty up here , the stones are set solid, and come out in a rash easily, poor old stones need tending and caring for, not rattling.
