I was just wondering if this had evolved to any point yet; I'm creating an agenda for the development of the guides, and making sure I know 'what's on'.

Thanks

Enjoy Cornwall - I know you will; weather looks promising I think.

Cheers

Tim

No, I've been working on other things, there didn't seem to be a lot of interest from anyone else. I'll try and find where I got to at some point.

To hone the idea down a bit more, call up photos from our gallery to be displayed on the day trip page by adding the following markup code like this: [pid:1234] (where 1234 is the number of the photo) to say 'add a photo here'. Where a site doesn't have a photo, or you want to call up a main site page, put [sid:1234] to bring in a text page or news item.

You don't need to write very much text, as the description you or others have already written will be pulled in from the relevant photo or main page descriptions. Just put a list of site names, some [pid:] and [sid:] codes and a few words between as you like. It's well worth starting to compile these day trips, but don't expect the links to work immediately as I have a job I've been promising Vicky for some time to finish first.

Of course they don't have to be 'day trips', but can be lists of sites you want to connect for any other reason.
Cheers,
Andy

This is a good suggestion - others may want to make their thoughts public here too. I've been thinking similar thoughts. Probably easiest to compile as a list of connected site names that would be converted into a proper page of information.

Put day trip lists in this Site Guides Forum for now, as this gives you a free hand to edit and create any text you want. I'll work on automatically generating some 'day trip' pages.

Cheers,
Andy

Having posted in the Site Guides forum, asking for N Wales info (Tim?), it occurs to me that we could have a 'day trip' section, written by Site Guides for an area, recommending sites that can be seen in a day.

This could be a useful resource, providing possible itineraries for trips, might stimulate others to ask questions, and gives the site guides an opportunity to highlight some of the lesser known sites in their areas.

It does of course, need the site guides to write the things. I'll think about what I could include in a Land's End trip guide.

Thoughts as to whether this is a good idea, and where it could fit into the overall navigation of the site??
