Hi - on your second picture, we didn't manage to get to Tingwall ourselves, but looking at our various maps etc, I think this is definitely Tingwall Loch stone - the item for this on the RCAHMS site has an old photo showing the same curved top.

The first is this one:
Which is somewhere on an island close to Scalloway in Shetland. Now, the stones have a cairn (and they are quite near a modern house which is occupied) which is infested with rabbits, including one conspicuous black one.
Up the hill in the distance is another cairn (as seen in first photograph) and across from the circle can be seen a moutain range, but I think its another island.
Does anyone know the location?
Any help gratefully received. I've tried looking on the maps here at an The Modern Antiquarian to no avail.

Don't know, PAB. It looks familiar, but we went around in circles for a time. I was very ill that day and didn't write up my journal, so my memory is foggy at best.
I also have to identify this particular stone, overlooking a golf course, which we passed on our way to Tingwall Kirk.

From the distance given from the Standing Stones to the Cairn, it could be East Burra, but I would need more information. I think I am going to have to email the tour company.

Not likely, as that is in the West of Scotland, and I am referring to Shetland (north of the Orkney Islands).
