I have found out that near the cave there is a narrow path known as "The Maiden Step" where a lady is said to of escaped from the clutches of the giant Tarqin who lived there.
I will try and visit the caves in the next few weeks and forward any pictures taken.

Hello Dizzy.
You're right that there are a lot of historical references to it but nothing recent.
http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=%22Giants+Caves%22+eamont

Wikipedia says Three miles south-east of the town, on the River Eamont are the "Giants' caves", where the well was dedicated to St. Ninian. The caves are enlarged out of Lower Permian sandstones and their associated breccias and purple shales.

I would go and have a look, we do! Take a photo for us while you're there.

Can anyone tell me if it is still possible to visit the Giants Caves near Penrith in Cumbria.
The caves known as Isis Parlis or Sir Hughs Parlour were once popular with the people of Penrith and was the site of a holy well.
Anything about the caves would be interesting.
