Cromlech, I went inside the polystyrene Stonehenge and can confirm it was fantastic. Being "complete" had a stunning effect.
The only other repro Stonehenge I know of is this - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/wiltshire/4753205.stm
but I don't think there's much intention to make it useful for scientific research. It's more of a fun venue I think.

Cromlech,
I saw the tv show here in the US. It was an even handed documentary. My guess is that it helped pay for the construction, which was very detailed. While the styrofoam didn't have the mass, it did have the size, exact carved shapes, and coloration of the original as closely as one could expect. Watching the various specialists using it to take sound readings, etc. was very interesting.
Most interesting, given the condition of the original, was how different being inside the various portions of the reconstructed one was. A completely different look toward the exterior than I ever expected.

I have been told second hand that some scientists are building a styrofoam stonehenge not far from the real one to be used for some astronomical study during the solstice. I will be there at the time, and would be interested in knowing more. Anyone has info on how to find it?
Cheers
