A WEALTH of historical finds that have helped cast new light on the Island’s past will go on display in Newport this month.
The exhibition, The Island’s History Uncovered Beneath Our Feet, has been put together by the Island’s metal detecting clubs, which have played a key role in unearthing the previously hidden historical secrets of the Island.
It is hoped the six-day exhibition at Sts Thomas’s Church will also highlight the desperate need for a permanent exhibition space to prevent beautiful and historically important artefacts from leaving the Island.
“I’m sure people will be staggered by some of the amazing finds uncovered on the Island by metal detectors,” said Allan Hall, chairman of the IW Metal Detecting Club.
