Unfortunately they don't do mine anymore (Garmin 76C), was a bargain for £105 last year.

I use a Magellan eXplorist 210, it's good for accuracy but it's sloooooooow in use when you want it to do something in the menus (though maybe because I'm using 1.2v batteries rather than 1.5v).

Not sure what it's like in the UK but mine has mapping on a non-colour display that is totally useless, if you are going to be out in the wilds then a simple model that just draws a line to trace your route might be adequate rather than splashing out hundreds for colour maps you might not or cannot use. The eXplorist does however give me moon phase, position, rise and set times as well as sunset which can be handy.

I also use Destinator 6 on a PocketPC for driving which has excellent mapping for Ireland but cannot be used to trace your route off-road so bear that in mind if going for a fancy colour mapping model that is designed for in-car use. Youcan't input long/lat or OS co-ords on many of these either, only addresses which is a right pain with Destinator since Ireland doesn't use postcodes.

I now find I need the services of a gps unit to get to some of these places. An O.S. map and my trusty Swiss Army Compass are ok up to a point, but once having left the gravel track shown on the map, and with my sense of direction. I need a gps unit.

Hope someone can answer you because I'd like to find one too. However, keep in mind that some of the sites are not very accurate, even if the location is given to many digits. If it's not accurate, the text for the site ought to indicate that inaccuracy.

Hi Everyone

I've used the site for the last 12 months to give me directions to stone circles, hill forts, etc.(never posted before)
I now find I need the services of a gps unit to get to some of these places. An O.S. map and my trusty Swiss Army Compass are ok up to a point, but once having left the gravel track shown on the map, and with my sense of direction. I need a gps unit.
Could any of you please recommend a reliable, user friendly one.My Lottery ticket didn't win this weekend, so cost will come into it as well.
Thanks
