So.....If twelve hours is compressed into eight hours, my old gaffer owes me a hell of a lot of overtime.

Rbatham,
I dont want to learn anything that is not in accordance with what I find in nature.
A classic of this , is counting in tens.
I prefer to count in nines.
You and me have a better chance than many others of thinking in such numbers as we were brought up counting in twelves.
If you count in nines, then you are following a descending sequence;-
9
18
27
36
45
54
63
72
81
90
and an ascending coloum, everything I detect spirals into a point and spirals back out from the same point.
You have been led to look at space in a linear fashion, it simply will not exist as you comprehend it.
This leads to completely wrong vision of reality.
It is difficult to think in nines and spirals that are all encompassing not just two dimensional, as when looking at a drawing.
I therefore deduce that time actually wraps around all the spiral pathways , and all time past and in the future is accessable.
It is all just an electrical field, with zillions of interlocking such.
To actually travel about in this , and pass through these interlocking spirals, we will simply have to stand still.
We are on the good ship earth, hurtling along through space, following a descending spiral you consider time, If we were able to stop the planet, or create a small planet in the shape of a globe with its own field been created in the same way as the planet does, then we would watch the planet dissappear fast, to those on the planet it would appear as though our new little world had travelled, we could then skip about the zillions of spirals and appear anywhere at any time.
This is in the not too distant future as far as your time spiral is concerned, and we will possibly keep popping back to make sure certain things happen that need to happen.
When they are going into space in a rocket, they are fighting nature, they have to rip through the consequences of nature.
Instead of this, just copy nature .
To do this you have to recognise nature and its ways, nature does not count in tens.

Ok Kevin, so the scientists have got it wrong have they?
Their results are VERIFIABLE and REPEATABLE

Different weights fall at the same rate
Take two weights up your local church tower and drop them.

Don't rely on Galileo D-I-Y

Speed (or velocity) is distance divided by time.eg 70 miles/ hr
Acceleration is average distance divided by average time or to work it out
Acceleration = twice distance/ time squared.
Drop your weights and time the fall
If your tower is 64 ft and your time is 2 secs then acceleration =128/ 4= 32ft per sec /sec

Don't rely on Newton DIY

The period of a pendulum is dependant on the length
Take your yo-yo out of your pocket swing it and time the swing

Don't rely on Galileo DIY

All masses in the universe attract each other
With a few pieces of wire and some weights you can set up the 'Cavendish experiment'

Don't rely on Cavendish or Newton DIY

Get yourself a small telescope and observe the planets for a while. Collect data and soon you will be able to calculate their distance and period

Don't rely on Kepler. DIY

Observe the moons of Jupiter for about 6 mnths and you wil have enough data to calculate the speed of light

Don't rely on Reaumur DIY

Sir Edmund Halley, astronomer friend of Newton used Newton's maths to calculate the orbit of the comet of 1682. If Newton got it wrong then Halley would be wrong also. But, the comet returned 1759. 1835, 1910, 1986. as predicted. I saw it. Newton was right.

Einstein got it wrong? E= MC^2. is wrong? What sort of bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki 1945?

Your aether and spirals are untenable and untestable

The aether was a theory proposed by Thomas Young and James Clerk-Maxwell to give light waves a medium to pass through.. never proved to exist.

I've got another friend who counts by nines. he lost a finger on a circular saw.

But if 'time' is man's invention, then it should have no physical effect on any matter, hence the natural vibration of that matter should remain constant, and further hence we should see a difference in the number of vibration cycles in, for example the period between sunrise and sunset. So, to be honest, I see utterly no supporting evidence for time getting faster except the usual psycological effect that increasing age has had on mankind since whenever (days always seem shorter now than when you were a kid), and Mike/Croppy's unverifiable assertions.

Do crystals have supernatural powers, eh, no they don't. They do have the piezo-electric effect though!

Well, you haven't sold me on this matter-outside-time business, but you're better educated than I am so I'll let it go.

You're right tho' aluta, the 'Quickening' affects everything within the matrix of our 5 sense reallity, that includes crystals.

It occurred to me while I was gone today that maybe Roy and Sanchez are among those who believe that crystals have supernatural powers that would result in their being able to remain outside the time stream in some manner. I don't know much about all that crystal stuff, but if that's what they're referring to, I guess it's worth considering . . .

I tried it both ways, it's total gibberish (I used that in case Jez removes the word 'bollox' ) either way, so it don't really matter!

And would you please stop referring to the movie 'Highlander'? The 'Quickening' really was Hollywood make-believe!!!

I haven't seen the movie. Maybe you should read some books!

There is no reason why the natural vibration of crystals would change if time altered.

I don't know, guess I'm not seeing this the same way.

If they remained vibrating at a detectably different rate, then by definition, time would not have changed . . .

Mind you, I'm not even arguing that time really has changed. That's not in the realm of my knowledge. I just don't understand how crystals would remain mysteriously unaffected and outside the stream of time while everything else would remain in it.

Not sure why I'm arguing, though. It's not something I'm concerned about.

The experts tell us that our dreams occur within a very short time frame yet, some of my dreams involve journeys that last for days, weeks, even years. All in the blink of an eye, in the 'NOW'.

Excellent point, and quite nicely closes the door on any notions that 24 hours today is the equivalent of 16-ish hours yesteryear.
