Ellen writes (via e-mail): Thanks so much! What a great reply. I looked up the definition of "corrie" and found that it could be used to describe a feature of the land and camp I am about to buy to turn into a sheep farm (I already have Scottish Blackface sheep). I had planned to name the farm Corrimony but now have even more reason to. But this time I will spell it right :0) Thanks again for all your help.

Hi Ellen
The Spelling should be,to-day, Corriemony. It is derived from the Gaelic Coire mona, meaning the wet corrie. The written name of the farm will be how the people of that time pronounced it,spelling not being important just the sound

Ellen writes: I saw your pictures of Corrimony when I did a Google search. My ancestors were from that area, moved to Nova Scotia in the late 1700s. They named their farm after their home but spelled it a little differently: Coromonie. I hope to visit both places someday but was curious as to the correct pronunciation. Thank you.
