Three inches of snow!!!!! Here in Brackla, barely six miles away, just mention the word snow and the supermarket will be bare of food staples in ten minutes. It's a frightening sight is a woman with a trolleyful of bread and microwave meals rushing to checkout before she's snowed in.

Do you know, on a clear day, you can see the BT tower from my Mum's front garden.

We had three inches of snow in Porthcawl a few weeks back, and Somerfield ran out of bread and milk !

A96 to Keith blocked this morning, Glens of foundland now open but hellesh to drive in.
Wind is getting up now and has turned warmer (will have to look out the T shirts) and snow is melting.
Had about 8 inchs of snow. Happy days, I love it.

How oxymoronic that this thread now has a burning logo ? Does that mean "it's as cold as hell"?
Mar's ain't the kind of place to raise your kids... in fact it's....

It's been even worse here in north-east Aberdeenshire today. Every school has been closed and I've been stuck in the house all day, the wind is blowing a gale and the snow is falling like nobody's business. Now, if only I had broadband I could have been browsing these pages all day instead of being bored witless!

Rained here much of the day; turned to a furious blizzard mid afternoon accompanied by a few spectacular claps of thunders... the A500 into Stoke as closed, and some colleagues are having trouble getting home.
It is now crystal clear, and an ice rink out there!
Will be going very careful on my bike later on!
Cheers

Traveller - I was born & brought up in Dorset - do you remember the snow (I think) in '78?

Well, I got the day off!
Started snowing again about an hour ago in Leeds and it's coming down pretty heavy now!
No doubt It'll all have turned to mush by nightfall...
