Two problems that are not new. I don't have a fix for the 'latest photos' thing. It only hits me very occasionally and I can't see anything wrong in the way the page is generated. I don't think it hits many users. You always get it when you log out? I don't. On all browsers? It happened to me once or twice then stopped again and I can't now replicate it.
The seond problem (at least what I have seen) is simply that the 'New' icon has been pushed too far off the page to the right-hand side. It only happens on some fora. This happens where we have a lot of forum moderators listed (correct me if I'm wrong) and this seems to push the 'new' icon too far over. True that needs fixing but it's hardly the fall of the Roman Empire.
As an IT person you must know the importance of being very specific in your problem reports, sweeping statements like that are just tedious.
We do not have a software doctor, we have an amatur programmer (myself) who spends most of his time seeing to the more humdrum day to day workings of the site, and who rarely has the mental energy left after the day job, kids are in bed and e-mails all anwered to get into late night coding sessions.
Not to mention making sure the server is kept maintained, and that critical things like regular backups and so on are done (which they are).
I'm sorry, I don't mean to be negative, that's just the way it is, we do not have a 'sugar daddy' who funds this site from other more profitable activities.
Cheers.

... and another thing I've just noticed. I can't start a new thread on the forum logged in or not. Can someone please call the software doctor? This site seems to be cracking up!

When I am not logged in I get a blank white page on the latest images pages. Is this just me? Shame if the best feature of the site can only be seen by 3% of users!

This really should be fixed. How can I browse through the latest photos from the last day or so? This used to be one of the main attractions of this site.
