Go explain that orb with the conventional thought you wont come so far.
Aint nothing round in the picca that can make an round reflection.
And it is in front of the camera bu tou can see it in the window to.

the basic rule in photography is that film only captures light. to capture orbs would possibly be due to waterdroplets,condensation or even mist, as Andy states. Lense flare can also give strange effects cos if it were to move you would capture a kinda streak of light. cameras can pick up light that our eye (dispite years of evolution) cannot like infrared or ultraviolet, though that is with the help of filters. using filters in photoshop can also add lens flare which can look like different size balls of transparrent light. its abit more trial and error with a camera though. if you wanted to create your own you could always blow 'fairy' liquad bubbles!

Many 'orbs' must be the intense flash reflecting off airborne dust or tiny water droplets within a few tens of cm from the lens.
I think Captain's on the right lines, the reason they show up more than with conventional cameras is to do with the very fast response time of CCDs (digital cameras), the high resolution and the fact they tend to have bright flashes that are very close to the lens.
To change the subject a bit -
Konica/Minolta have annouced today they have stopped producing film and have transferred their camera business to Sony. I'm sure film will survive but I can see it going the way of vinyl records, a tiny artisan niche kept alive by analogue purists and stuckists.

I've watched a couple of programs about orbs and in every case they managed to explain rationally the hows and wherefores. Mostly it's perfectly simple and down to light / camera fault. Though I have been told by a photographer mate that it's quite possible that a good digital camera can "see" something that the eye can't, but I am not sure how true that is

I cant explain the details, but it will largely revolve around reflections off of various surfaces, bits and pieces of which will get focused together, and then disperse again in a circular pattern. Of course, the silicon chip is very good at noticing the slight differences in light, even if its for an extremely short timescale, and so it records it.
Floating balls of light ? Flying insects invisible to all but cameras ? Nonsense.
Having said that, I do believe in floating balls of light and energy occasionally happening after lightning strikes, and honestly believe I saw one once many years ago. But there's some logic behind those, rather like the sparks which fly during welding etc.
Now if somebody has recorded one of those on camera, I'd love to see the images.

There appear to be many threads on the subject of orbs on the "Portal." Is there anyone out there who can explain why a few silicon chips and a poxy plastic lens can see more than a brain and eyes that has been evolving for millions of years?
