Ancient Settlement in Piemonte. Founded in prehistorical times by the Ligurian population called Dectunines, it's said to have surrended to roman troops in 191 BC. It began to increase its size and population with the opening of the Via Postumia.</description>

Parts of a 6000 year old archeological site have been destroyed during rioting in Chiomonte. The necropolis and village were heavily damaged during on June 27th, 2011. The local population are resisting the project to build a tunnel and high speed train route (TAV) which is being funded with millions of Euros from the EU.</description>
