The preserved fragment of this stone shows the head of an elephant-like animal („pictish-beast“).

After a metal detectorist uncovered some Roman coins in 1996 subsequent excavation into some previously seen crop marks revealed two hoards of Roman coins and the post-holes of several roundhouses.
Inverugie Souterrain

. Souterrain (Fogou, Earth House) in Moray.
On rediscovering the Inverugie Cup and Ring-marked rocks (sometimes referred to as the East Backlands rocks) I was made aware of the presence of an ancient (?) souterrain. The local who informed me of its existence was adamant that it is very ancient, as opposed to a Victorian 'ice store'. Indeed its location is quite remote, amidst the fields and rocks of which the cup marked rocks are only 300m to the West.
