Situated at the very northern edge of Tawantinsuyu, Inca-Caranqui likely represents the last major imperial building event prior to the Spanish invasion in 1532.</description>

A recently discovered Inca site, 70km south of Quito.  Possibly the burial site of the last Inca, Atahualpa. Ingapirca is the largest Incan site in Ecuador.  It is located in the remote south of the country about a kilometre from the village of the same name, which is reached by travelling approximately 60 kilometres north from Cuenca, the regional capital, on highway 35 and then approximately a further 12 km down a side road to the north east of the main highway.</description>
