Rock Outcrop in Cornwall
Upidas Outcrop, Clearly there was also once a prehistoric settlement here as four granite bowls or bowl querns were found near Upidas outcrop. They measure: 48cm external diameter by 33cm internal diameter by 28cm high; 48cm external diameter by 38cm internal diameter by 28cm high; 28cm external diameter by 20cm internal diameter by 25cm high; 30cm external diameter by 20cm internal diameter by 35cm high. There is also a fragment of a bowl or saddle quern, 40cm by 25cm by 17cm high; a fragment of a granite bowl, 48cm external diameter by 30cm high; a fragment of a saddle quern, 38cm by 25cm by 10cm high; 2 post-holed stones (the largest is 36cm by 36cm by 33cm high, with a depression 18cm diameter by 18cm deep).
A collection of granite objects were recorded in 1985 in the garden of Upidas. The stones are partially hidden below gorse bushes near the back door of the cottage.
The top and bottom stones of a rotary quern in very good condition are amongst the collection of stones at Upidas. They measure 53cm diameter. There are also two unfinished bottom stones of rotary querns, both roughly finished into a round shape and with depressions on either side. They measure 38cm and 40cm in diameter. A waterworn holed stone, 51cm by 33cm by 10cm high with a hole, 10cm diameter, at one end, is probably an anchor stone. There is also a fragment of a granite beach boulder, 23cm by 20cm by 13cm high with an inscription that looks incredibly like a bench mark.
