From Pastscape:

"Several of a group of tumuli on Brightwell Heath were excavated
in May 1919 by members of the Club. The tumuli are situated on the
left hand side of the Foxhall-Woodbridge road.

1. 'B' This tumulus was not excavated but was believed to be Bronze
Age.

2. 'D' TM 2365 4503 Not excavated, probably BA.

3. 'F' TM 2366 4503 Excavated. Approx. 17 feet in diameter, 3 feet
high. Found to contain a basket shaped bronze bowl containing
cremated bones and a bone comb with iron rivets, two ornamental bone
discs, a portion of ivory bracelet, two glass beads, potsherds and
burnt wood. Ascribed to the A/S period.

4. 'C' Excavated. 40 feet in diameter, 3 feet high, with a surrounding ditch 10 feet wide. Barrow contained fragments of pottery ascribed to the EBA, and numerous worked flints. No complete cinerary urn or burnt bones were found.

5. 'G' TM 2365 4507 A cup-shaped depression found to consist
principally of a hearth. Prob. A/S.

6. 'E' TM 2367 3407 Excavated, appeared to have been previously
dug into. Small quartzite hammer was the only find. Probably A/S.

Barrow 'A' is not mentioned in the excavation report and is not
shown on a scale survey of the mounds. (2)

A small, close group of barrows situated on the western fringe of
the now disused Martlesham aerodrome. Some of the barrows described
by Authority 2 were apparently leveled during the last war when
R.A.F. huts were erected in the area. The group is under dense bracken and within a belt of woodland, with the exception of barrow 'C'.

'A' Obscured by bracken, probable bowl barrow, about 15.0 m. in
diameter, 1.0 m. high, appears to be in good condition.

'B' A bowl barrow, obscured by bracken but about 15.0 m. in diameter,
1.3 m. high. Has fir trees growing on it. Appears to be in good
condition.

'C' Barrow levelled to within 0.2 m. of ground level, and with a
diameter of 13.0 m. Turf-covered. Now virtually destroyed.

'D' Remains of a barrow, diameter 10.0 m., height about 0.5 m.,
cut through the centre by a modern trench which has removed the
greater part of the mound. Covered with bracken, has fir trees growingon it.

'E' No trace of this barrow. Bracken dense.

'F' No trace of this barrow.

Published survey (25" 1927) revised. (3)

TM 236450. Round barrows south-west of Dobbs Corner - scheduled. (4)

The barrows on Brightwell Heath mentioned by Auths. 2 and 3 lie
at the end of a low natural ridge under bracken and undergrowth at
c.30.0m. OD: only four are now recognisable.

'A' at TM 23634504 measures c15.0m. in diameter by 1.0m. high and
has been mutilated on the east side by an old boundary bank.

'B'. at TM 23644502 measures 14.0m. in diameter by 1.2m. high.

'C' at TM 23654502, abutts 'B' and measures 9.0m. in diameter by
0.5m. high.

The probable site of the fourth barrow at TM 23664502 is visible as
an amorphous rise some 0.2m. high but of indeterminate diameter.

No ditches were found around any of the barrows.

No further barrows were located in the area. "

One of many Barrow's to be found in this small area, easy to find and still in a reasonable state, pity about the traffic a few yard's away !!
