Kell Well (Walcot)
Kell Well (Walcot) submitted by rogerkread : Kell Well is easily found, being signposted down steps off the footpath running along The Cliff from Julian's Bower to Burton Stather. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Holy Well or Sacred Spring in Lincolnshire

This is a bubbling spring, which runs out from between the layers of Lias rock on the western face of the hill, near the Trent, between Burton- Stather and Alkborough. Keld deriving from O.N for spring and this is certainly an ancient site laying close to Julian's Bower and Roman remains. No traditions are associated with it but it is said to petrify and remains were found in the area, but these were more likely to be fossilised crinoids, a star fish relation.

Re: Kell Well by Anonymous on Friday, 29 May 2020
As a child in the 1950s our family use to visit Kell well and find many “star stones” not realising what they were at 8 or 9 years old , I’m now 70 and have non in my possession. I have visited recently and been disappointed in the site , pot pipes and stone walls, it was just a little water coming out the ground at the time of our visits 50 s and 60 s

Bit of a disappointing finding this well, pipes that have been run through the area provide the water. Sad sight to see. Alkborough maze & church are worth a visit though
