A Bronze Age barrow cemetery on Wash Common consists of 3 well-preserved bowl barrows, largest of which is 2,7 m high, and a circular earthwork interpreted as a disc barrow or a saucer barrow (however, the finds of flint and charcoal might suggest that it's a Neolithic henge monument). One more bowl barrow was destroyed in 1962. Tradition links this barrow cemetery with victims of Newbury battle (1643). The largest barrow, called Bumper's Hill, is surrounded with a quarry ditch.
The cemetery is located south from Stuart road. Bumper's Hill and other 2 bowl barrows are in good condition, the saucer barrow/henge earthwork is distinguishable as well.
