Standing Stone (Menhir) in Berkshire

This is in the hedge on the side of a lane about 1.5km north of Upper Lambourn.You can take your car as far as where the lanes cross and walk the rest of the way. Another boundary stone but again I like to think it was used for convenience sake.

I found some folklore surrounding this stone, and how it got its name, it is said that a sheep stealer and stolen a sheep and had it tied around his head. He went to sleep on this stone and the sheep struggled, strangling the thief.

    This may be a common theme, there is a boundary stone near Hutton Le Hole in North Yorkshire at SE 69413 91740 also called the Hangman Stone with local folklore telling the same story as above on how it got its name
