Hardwell Camp
Hardwell Camp submitted by SolarMegalith : Well-preserved defensive ditch in SW part of the hillfort (photo taken on February 2011). (Vote or comment on this photo)
Hardwell Camp is an Iron Age hillfort located on a promontory SE from Compton Beauchamp. The earthwork is in reasonable condition with visible ramparts and ditches. From the Western and Eastern side the hillfort is protected by natural ravines, while the earthwork is particularly strong from the South. The site has never been excavated.

To reach Hardwell Camp you need to follow the road from Ashbury - just after the junction with a road to Compton Beauchamp you will see the forest hiding the hillfort on your right.
