Stanton Moor 1 submitted by PaulM : General view of Stanton Moor I (Derbyshire) (Vote or comment on this photo)
Located a short distance to the north of the Nine Ladies, Stanton Moor I is very overgrown and hard to locate.

Originally it was an embanked stone circle with a bank 2m wide and 10m by 9m internally in diameter. There are two entrances to the NNE and SSW. The circle is so badly damaged that it is impossible to say how many stones there may have been originally. Only one now survives.

Note: A large batch of new photos from this little visited close byneighbour of the much visited Nine Ladies on Stanton Moor.

Known to local Pagans as the "Lost Circle" for obvious reasons!

A lovely secluded little spot that many people never find. Not sure if I want people to find it or not . . .

Located this for myself on Saturday at last! Pictures to follow soon. Thumbs up to Paul & Vicky's ever helpful "Rock around the Peak" book for helping me to find it after some determined searching :o)
