Cow Low
Cow Low submitted by twentytrees : Looking north on a sunny January day from the barrow. In the distance, albeit hazy, are South Head and Mount Famine. Possibly also Kinderlow Bowl Barrow which is at 630m whereas Cow Low is at 400 with the highest point in between being an unnamed hill at 480m. Some experimentation needed!!! Round Barrow(s) in Derbyshire

Well preserved although dug out round barrow with panoramic views over Chapel en le Frith and onward to Kinder Scout (Kinder End Bowl Barrow possibly visible). Very prominent with its sister barrow Lady Low on the horizon west of the Bull Ring at Dove Holes. Access 1 since its on farmers land albeit only 100yds from the road. The south side is a flat plateau whereas on the north the land falls away very sharply making the barrow very prominent.
Referred to in Bateman's Ten Years Digging - see ref where he describes digging in 29/08/1846 and finding a number of cist burials and others.
