Durham HER D3933 and Monument Number 1163716
One of an important group of sculpted rocks in the area of The Rigg Farm. This is the only one that is publicly accessible, but it's one of the best. It has about 30 cup marks and two grooves, plus some indistinct markings. It is usually partly covered by turf. For the photographs, this has been gently peeled back and then replaced. Full details of this and the other Deepdale stones can be found in "Prehistoric Rock Art of County Durham, Swaledale and Wensleydale"
From the cattle grid where the public bridlepath leaves the wood, walk west along an indistinct public footpath, and the rock is about 20 metres from the cattle grid, a few metres from the wood edge. Most of the other stones are east of this, towards the Rigg farmhouse.
This panel is included in Paul and Barbara Brown’s gazetteer (2008) as RIG 13, Beckensall and Laurie (1998) recorded it as The Rigg 10.
