Coberley submitted by TheCaptain : Substantial remains of a longbarrow beside a lovely old green trackway partway down a ridge on the downslope from the top of the Cotswold Hills above the small village of Coberley (Vote or comment on this photo)
Remains of a Long Barrow about 140' long and 8' high, the highest at its W end.

It is divided in two parts a little to the E of the middle by a deep trench made for an excavation c. 1880 when nothing was found. The size of the barrow suggests it was a Cotswold-Severn type and thus may have had a burial chamber.

Coberley submitted by Celia_Haddon : COBERLEY LONG BARROW, Glos SO 95521563 This looks rather like two round barrows but is one lng barrow which was dug in the middle. A skeleton was found in l877. Easy to find, since a footpath goes right by it. No signs of walling or large megaliths.

Unusual to see a Barrow cut in two by excavations - some wear to NW corner where courses of internal stone have begun to appear - careless ploughing?
