"Stone Circle" (actually 2 overlapping Romano British settlements) in Lancashire

This site, which used to have a rough circle of stones on top, is featured on The Northern Antiquarian (TNA) website - see their entry for Ring Stones, Worsthorne, Lancashire. TNA gives directions for finding the site, together with a 1946 plan and an extract from Walter Bennett's survey of the same date. TNA adds that there is not much to see here.

This site is recorded as Pastscape Monument No. 45317, the summary of which reads: "Romano British settlement, of at least two phases, excavated in 1925. Up to 6 later limekilns have been built in or nearby the earthworks" (see the rest of their record for the excavation notes). Pastscape also record the site of an alleged earth circle at SD 8857 3314 - see Pastscape Monument No. 45316. This site is scheduled as Historic England List ID 1009488 (Two Romano-British farmsteads known as Ring Stones).

The Journal of Antiquities also includes an entry for Ring Stones Earthwork, Worsthorne, Burnley, Lancashire, which includes directions for finding this site, together with photographs, a description and a list of reference sources for more information.
