Cairn in Lancashire

The Law, Mereclough, Burnley, Lancashire page on The Northern Antiquarian (TNA) gives us a brief archaeology and history of this 'once proud tomb which stood upright on the slopes below the more prominent Cliviger Laithe tumulus above' and say that they've found 'what may be some traces of the outline of the cairn'.

Pastscape Monument No. 887165 has further information, which tells us: "(at) Cliviger Law House, circa 1763 a 'heap of stones (cairn) was removed as materials for a turnpike road' and a cist with an inhumation was found. In 1766 another tumulus was removed and an urn found. An axe hammer is said to have been associated. A Roman coin hoard [SD 83 SE 35] was discovered on or near a tumulus at Law House in 1695."

Note: Have you visited this site? Have you seen the outline of the cairn? Do you have any photographs or comments to add?
