Liggar's Stane
Liggar's Stane submitted by cosmic : What a sad end. This stone is worthy of mention only because it appears on OS Maps as a Standing Stone. It has been moved and broken with this fragment used as a wall end. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Standing Stone in Aberdeenshire. According to the RCAHMS (Site no. 18980) this stone was originally at least twice the size and it was moved in 1911.

"NJ72SW 11 7457 2485 removed to 7470 2488.

(NJ 7457 2485) Liggars' Stane (NR) (site of).
OS 6" map, Aberdeenshire, 2nd ed., (1901)

The Liggars' Stane is a large whinstone, about 7 ft (2.13m) high and 2 ft 0.61m) broad, said to mark the burial-place of the female camp-followers who were slain at the Battle of Harlaw.

Liggar's Stane
Liggar's Stane submitted by megalithicmatt : (Looking out towards Mither Tap). Heavily damaged and built into a drystane dyke by the side of the road. According to The New Statistical Account Of Scotland (1845), "a few years ago, there were two of these stones; but at that time, one of them was removed by a farmer in the neighbourhood; and after being broken down, was put into his house which was then building".
