Rock Art in Angus

This is a cup marked stone, and is indicated on the 1:25k scale OS map. The stone is north of the main river path, close to the field boundary fence under a tree.

The stone has between 10 to 20 carved cup depressions, each approximately 5cm wide and 1cm deep. Part of the rock appears to have been cracked off, but a good portion of it remains.

This cup marked stone is recorded as Canmore ID 36026, which gives a very slightly different grid reference of NO 66529 60528. A report from a field visit in 2001 reads: "Upright whinstone c 0.5m below ridge of field in Den. 14 cup-marks of varying sixe visible on E-face and top also 4 slight on S-face. C 3.0m E, lying on ground, is poss. 2nd stone – with single cup-mark on S-face. 2 full faces not visible."
