I have visited· I would like to visit

TheCaptain saw from a distance on 3rd Jun 2020 It is now possible to walk all the way up the Severn Estuary past the tidal pool, and through the ex nuclear power station. Looking out at the tidal pool at low tide, all sorts of lumpy bumpy bits can be seen below the wall, quite possibly the remains of the petrified forest.

4clydesdale7 visited on 4th Jul 2011 - their rating: Access: 1 It rose like Atlantis from beneath the waves - no chance of getting near it - high security and (every 12 1/2hrs) tides too!

From Pastscape (1181354 and 1181412): "An exposure of palaeosol/peat together with the remains of tree stumps and prostrate trunks were recorded by the Exeter Office of the RCHME as part of a PhD project undertaken at the University of Bristol. The features lie close to the wall of the tidal reservoir by Oldbury-on-Severn power station and they were surveyed using differential GPS. They lie in on the seaward edge of the intertidal area and access is restricted. The exposure of palaeosol/peat measures 100x80m and is at -1m OD. Blue/grey clay divides the two layers. Full details of the work are given in the RCHME survey report."

You cannot get near this site for security (in yellow as always) - but this is a telephoto shot taken as the site rose from beneath the waves of a falling Bristol Channel/Severn tide like a modern day Atlantis
