Carrot Hill
Carrot Hill submitted by santhony : Low winter sunlight picks out most of the cup marks. No clear evidence of any rings was noticed. (Vote or comment on this photo)
A sandstone boulder, 1.2 x 0.7 x 0.2 m, bearing at least 15 cup marks situated on the north-facing slope of Carrot Hill at 225 m OD.

This boulder is lying in thick heather and could be easily overlooked despite being mere yards from a small footpath.

Update May 2017: Further information can be found on Canmore ID 346554 which tells us: "On the N-facing slope of Carrot Hill at 225m OD, a sandstone boulder, 1.2 x 0.7 x 0.2m, bearing at least 15 cup marks." Found by Stuart Anthony in 2012. The Northern Antiquarian also has a page for this cup-marked stone - see their entry for Carrot Hill, Carrot, Angus, which includes directions to find the stone together with a photograph and a brief archaeology and history.
