Standing Stone in Shropshire.
Cynynion Standing Stone is on a prominent hilltop position close the Welsh border.

I did not have access to the stone, as there were numerous young bullocks in the field. A recent experience of having been spotted from a distance and then charged at by bullocks as I crossed a field on my descent from Caer Caradoc near Church Stretton has left me wary of sharing space with them unless absolutely necessary!

I would estimate the stone to be some five feet tall, and looks to be in fine condition.

The picture was taken from the top of a wall at the northwestern end of the field, which gives a clear view of the stone. Without entering the field, this is the best view to be had. There is a very wide area a little way down the lane back towards Rhydycroesau which provides plenty of space to leave a car.

In addition to the images I've supplied I also dowsed the site and found two ley lines crossing at the position of the stone, one line running roughly north-south, one running roughly east-west. Whoever placed this stone here knew of these ley lines

I visited this stone with the local farmer on 10th May 2007. The stone is being investigated by a local geologist to determine its origin.

The stone lies at the epicentre of two ley lines, one in a roughly north-south orientation and one in a roughly east west orientation. This would indicate it was placed by people who knew of and used ley lines.
