Whimble Barrow submitted by jfarrar : Whimble Barrow from Whinyard Rocks. It is thought the flattened top of the barrow may be a much later observation platform. (Vote or comment on this photo)

Whimble Barrow
Whimble Barrow submitted by jfarrar : A view over the Walton Basin from Evenjobb. The basin is full of prehistory, stone circles, cursus, wooden henge etc. The way Whimble, the conical hill, dominates the western skyline makes me think the barrows on its summit belong to some very important people. As far as I know, they have not been properly excavated. (Vote or comment on this photo)

From June this year, although I have only just found out, Whimble is designated as open access land.
