Round barrow in Devon

Sitting on top of the tumulus is a tree known as the Lone Pine of Aylesbeare. The pine, which is now dead, was used as a navigation point by local sailers. Plans to fell the tree where scrapped when a note was found pinned to it by the "White Witches of Aylesbeare" warning that anyone doing so would be cursed.

this tree has since come down, there are burn marks down the trunk and it has been split, maybe struck by lightening if anyone can confirm this?!
