Stone Circle in Denbighshire

This is located right by the road. A short tramp across the moss and heather will find it.

The grid reference for the name and classification came from one of Aubrey Burl's sources but it is a round barrow rather than a stone circle.

Capel Hiraethog III
Capel Hiraethog III submitted by TimPrevett : For some context: the site is to the west of this footpath (note the sign from the main road), and a property name "Cruglas". Very hard to make out more than 2 stones here with the August vegetation. Hard not to stumble with deep springy bilberry in places. It is definetly here, just very hard to appreciate it! One for a February or March visit on a bright day. (Vote or comment on this photo)

Capel Hiraethog III
Capel Hiraethog III submitted by Tom_Bullock : The OS Map shows 'Tumulus' at these coordinates. The coordinates place the site in the middle of a roadway in the middle of a forest plantation. I found nothing that resembled a Tumulus as shown on the OS Map, nor a round barrow that is indicated on the www.megalithic.co.uk website. (4 comments)

PaulM’s picture in 2004, then Bladup’s visit in 2013 show the trees and vegetation rising and encroaching on the site. The bilberry is becoming deep and springy to walk on, and there were some deep depressions which could easily cause you to stumble. I could identify just one stone and slight mound which for the experienced Barrow visitor could be identified as a very depleted Barrow. Sits in a clearing next to a sign “Cruglas” and footpath.
