Wiveliscombe Barrow
Wiveliscombe Barrow submitted by thecaptain : Wiveliscombe Barrow, on top of the Brendon Hills in Somerset. This is not what I was expecting when I left home in the sunshine last Sunday morning, hoping for some nice spring photographs. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Large, well preserved bowl barrow 21m diameter, 2m high, on top of the Brendon Hills in Somerset.

I found it difficult to park here, at the side of this busy road, particularly with it being foggy, so I didn’t spend long here. The barrow could easily be seen inside the field to the south of the road, but getting a photo through the hedge was not easy. It looks a very nicely preserved round barrow, and looks like it may have some stone features.

Pastscape monument no. 188436.

Its as good as it can be from a normal OS map. And I couldnt get into the field to us my gps when I visited, and probably wouldn't have bothered anyhow, the thing is easy enough to find, even in a fog !!!
