The Castle ditches, like 5 other hill forts in the local area have been badly damaged by coastal erosion. The hillfort is thought to be built in the Iron Age but may have be built on an earlier fort.

Although best viewed from the air, the banks and ditches are impressive and still visible from the ground. The area is on the walk known as the "Glamorgan Hertiage Coastal Path" and cliff views at this point are breath-taking.

There is a free car park and cafe (open in the summer months about 200 yards away.
