Mynydd y Glog submitted by cerrig : One of the more disturbed cairns. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Mynydd y Glog is in the south of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Not really a mountain, more a Gritstone moorland of gently undulating nature. The very low hills here are topped off with many impressive and generally well preserved cairns.

The surrounding area is also well populated with Bronze age monuments.

Mynydd y Glog
Mynydd y Glog submitted by cerrig : This collection of largeish stones are sited on a low saddle. They are quite an unusual feature of the area, the stones being generally much larger than the norm, and in a line too. The compass bearing is an interesting one, being roughly in the region of 50 degrees, a solstice setting. Maybe coincidental, but it's similar to other such rows on Carreg Cadno to the West. Mynydd y Glog
Mynydd y Glog submitted by cerrig : This is one of the few cairns that doesn't sit on top of a low hill. The lady with the rangeing pole is Edith Evans of Glamorgan/Gwent Archaeological trust, who gave a good account of the various kinds of cairns and their differences. The group here were on a guided walk as part of the Beacons Geopark festival, a yearly event of walks and talks stretching over several weeks. (2 comments - Vote or comment on this photo)
