Modern Stone Circle in Mid Glamorgan. Treorchy Gorsedd Circle - erected to commemorate the National Eisteddford held in 1928.

This photo was submitted to the Portal by Ken Mumford in the hope that we could identify it. As Ken wrote: "I have been going through some old 35mm slides. There is nothing shown on the current OS Maps or COFLEIN, but a bit of non-archaeological 'digging' identified the photo as being pretty similar to others located on the internet of the Treorchy Gorsedd Circle.

The circle may well have been moved - hopefully someone living locally will be able to confirm this. We initially thought it simply didn't exist any longer, but Google Street View showed us we were wrong - it is in the centre of a small housing development called 'Druids Close'!!!

Not visible on OS Maps, but easy to find on Google Street View - simply search for CF42 6LJ, in the centre of a small development called Druid's Close...

Nicely found PAB, thanks for doing the research on the photo. What an interesting before and after story, the circle looks better cared for now. I'll let Ken know.
