Ty'n Y Pant: This impressive stone stands alongside a well-maintained path on the hills above the Elan Valley, but it is not marked on either 25k or 50k OS Maps.
There is an entry on COFLEIN (their ref NPRN 261553) for a Bronze Age stone at almost the same GR location, but there are some details which need clarification or a more thorough site visit.
The main difference between the stone I saw and the COFLEIN report is the small matter of them describing it as 'recumbent':
"Recumbent stone, approx. 1.4m long. Sides 0.2m x 0.2m wide. Pointed at one end. Base lies next to shallow hollow 0.5m diam. x 0.2m deep. Packing stones around edges."
The entry was dated 1981, with an additional 'signature' by RSJ in 2000.
As can be seen from the photos posted from when I happened to pass by in September 2010, the stone has ceased to be recumbent. Unfortunately, I was not aware of COFLEIN's description at the time so I did not look closely at the base, but hopefully some of my photos will help draw out comments or information about the true situation.
