Temple Wood (Dunscore) submitted by Bladup : Friar's copse (Dunscore) 18th century stone circle. (Vote or comment on this photo)
18th Century (Modern) Stone Circle in Dumfries and Galloway. An imitation Bronze Age circle built of weathered stones by Captain Riddel who was the owner of Friar's Carse, Dunscore, in the late eighteenth century.

A bogus stone circle of 38 stones, all standing except three, one of which is in the centre and one just W of the circle. The stones vary in height from 1' to 7'.

For more information see Canmore ID 65780.

The better known, genuine circle in the Kilmartin valley can be seen here, at Megalithic Portal SID 197.
