Pen-y-Corddyn-Mawr Overlooking the River Dulas, this large hillfort is defended by nature on all sides apart from to the north where there are two ramparts faced with stone.

The remains of round huts can be seen inside.

My partner and I are archaeologists, currently working on a project about pen-y-corddyn. We have been in contact with the landowners, and i feel i should just point out the hill fort is actually private property and NOT public land. As such the owners have asked that anyone who wants to visit should ask their permission first!

Situated in the beautiful Dulas valley, this should be an AONB.

I know the area in question like the back of my hand, and have visited Pen Y Corddyn Mawr on many occasions and viewed the surrounding landscape from it's summit. It is an excellent location for a defensive structure, and is rather like a scaled-down version of the neighbouring hillfort 'Bryn Euryn', situated a couple of miles west along the coast at Rhos.
