Grenish
Grenish submitted by Neil Wakeling : Known locally as Loch nan Caraigean Stone Circle, Grainish, Highland - Summer OS NH9071545 (Aviemore / Carrbridge / Grantown) (Vote or comment on this photo)
Stone Circle in Highland. This ruinous Clava Ringcairn has a 18.5m diameter external kerb of contiguous stones. They are irregularly graded with the highest, 1.05m, in the south-west and the lowest, 0.3m, in the north. The inner 7.7m diameter kerb also has its tallest stone in the south-west. Much of the cairn material remains between the two kerbs.

It took us a long time to find this site close to Aviemore, but when we eventually did so, it was so wonderful, it made it all worth while. It has a magic I will never forget and is well worth a visit by anyone visiting that area.
